Forabot
- Forabot is a robot capable of sorting, manipulating and identifying microscopic marine fossils.
- It has an accuracy rate of 79% for identifying forams (single celled organism), which is better than trained human.
- Robot’s AI uses images to identify the type of foram and sort it accordingly.
- Foraminifera also known as form, are very simple micro-organisms that secrete a tiny shell, a little longer than a millimetre.
- These organisms have existed in the ocean for more than 100 million years.
Patriot missile
- It is one of most advance air defence system developed by US.
- It is surface-to-air guided missile system that can target cruise missile, aircraft and short range ballistic missile.
- US is planning to give the Patriot missile defence system to Ukraine to help in ongoing war with Russia.
EV Yatra Web Portal and Mobile Application
- On national Energy Conservation Day, President of India launched the EV Yatra and mobile application to encourage adoption of electric mobility in country.
- Mobile Application will facilitate navigation to nearest electric vehicle charging state.
- Web Portal will provide access to information related to benefits of e-mobility and schemes run by government for promotion of e-vehicles.
- It is developed by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Centre Nodal Agency for rollout of EV Public Charging Infrastructure.
GI Tag for Gamosa
- Gamosa/Gamusa/Gamucha is a white rectangular piece of cloth with primarily a red border in three sides and red woven motifs on the fourth.
- Gamosa is offered as a mark of respect and honour by Assamese people.
- Recently, Gamosa gets GI tag under Geographical Indication of Goods (Registration and protection) Act, 1999.
- GI tags cover under Intellectual Property Rights which comes under Paris Convention for Protection of Industrial Property and Trade Related Aspect of Intellectual Property Right (TRIPS) -WTO.
Gond tribe move from SC to ST list
- Gonds are Dravidian ethno-linguistic group, one of largest tribal groups in India.
- Recently, Upper House (Rajya Sabha) passed a bill to move Gond community from Schedule Caste (SC) to Schedule Tribe (ST) in four districts of Uttar Pradesh (UP).
- Gone People speak Gondi language and mostly are peasant and natural worshippers.
Kazind-2022 Joint Military Exercise
- India and Kazakhstan are conducting Joint Military Exercise name “Kazing-2022” in Umroi (Meghalaya).
- Kazind exercise first conducted in 2016 with name “Prabal Dostyk” and renamed “Kazind” in 2018.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
- It is a Balkan country situated in South-Eastern Europe.
- Recently, European Union decided to grant membership candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- It is bordered by Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro.
- Save and Neretva rivers are the major rivers, and Mount Magic is the highest peak.
- Its capital is Sarajevo.
Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh)
- Tawang is the western most district of Arunachal Pradesh, surrounded by Tibet (China) in north and Bhutan in the south.
- Recently, Indian army foiled an incursion attempt from Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh.
- Significance of Tawang : It is home to Tawang Monastery which is the largest monastery of India and 2nd largest in the world after Potala Palace in Lhasa (Tibet).
State of Finance for Nature 2022 Report
- The report released by United Nation Environment Programme (UNEP).
- As per report, finance for Nature based Solution (NBS) is currently $154 billion per year which is still less than half of $384 billion per year required by 2025.
- Nature based Solutions (NBS) refers to sustainable management and use of natural features and proactively tackle socio-environmental challenges like climate change, water security, water pollution, biodiversity loss, food security and disaster risk management etc.
Lecanemab
- Lecanemab is a drug that is currently in clinical trial for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
- It is developed by Pharma company name “Biogen and Eisai”.
- Alzheimer disease is a neurological disorder that cause the brain to shrink and brain cells to die. It is the most common cause of dementia.
