- But State Governments did not comply with the directives given that shifting overhead power lines underground is expensive and impractical.
About Great Indian Bustard (GIB)
- It is endemic to the Indian subcontinent and its highest population is in Rajasthan.
- It prefers Arid and Semi-arid grasslands with thorn scrub and tall grass interspersed with cultivation.
- IUCN Status – Critically Endangered
- Protected under Schedule-I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972 and Appendix I of CITES.

- It forms due to the evaporation of water in a lake/pond/river.
